Product Description

This delicious and organic EVOO is produced from 100% Arbequina olives from the Vea estate as well as the estates of eleven growers in the Sarocca de Lerida region. All product origins are controlled and certified by the CCPAE – Catalan Council of the Organic Production – under the EEC standards. Each farmer gets the certification three years after they begin cultivating olives in an organic manner. The region‘s climate is ideal for organic farming of Arbequina olive trees. During the winter, temperatures are very low, falling between –5 and –7 degrees. There is also an immense amount of fog. These two factors cause a layer of frost to form on the olives that helps to eliminate insects as well as maintain the temperature of the olives at no less than 0 degrees. This naturally occurring event controls the number of insects ensuring that they do not adversely affect the olive harvest. Conversely, the summer is hot and dry.
